Alarm push

Any tag can carry its own alarm: when its value turns true, TrakState pushes a message to everyone holding a chosen role - on their phone, through the TrakState app, without anyone having to be looking at a screen.

Open the tag under Settings › Tags and find Alarm push in the properties column.

  1. Switch Push when this tag turns true on.
  2. Pick a role under Notify role. The list is the tenant’s own roles - the same ones a person is assigned under Users - so a typo can never point the alarm at a role that does not exist.
  3. Optionally write a Message. It replaces the tag’s own path as the push’s title, so “Press 1 jammed” reads better on a phone than the tag’s dotted path.
  4. Save.

Whether a push is actually delivered still depends on the person: it only reaches someone who has installed the TrakState app and allowed notifications in it. A role with nobody signed up that way holds an alarm that never shows anywhere.

The alarm looks at the tag’s current value:

  • an actual true
  • a number that is neither zero nor missing
  • the text true, 1 or on (upper or lower case)

Anything else - false, 0, off, an empty or unusable value - counts as not raised.

A push is sent only on the rising edge: the moment the value goes from not-true to true. It does not repeat while the value stays true, and it does not fire when the value goes back to false - a return to normal is silence, not a second message.

Restarting the instance never re-raises an alarm. The very first reading after a restart only tells TrakState what the tag looks like right now; it takes a second, later change into true to actually push. Without this rule, every alarmed tag in the plant would push the moment the instance came back from an ordinary update.

A tag whose source is currently unreliable (its quality is not good) is treated as “cannot tell” - neither raised nor cleared - so a flaky connection never manufactures an alarm out of a gap in the data.

Switch Push when this tag turns true off and save. The tag keeps working exactly as before; it simply stops asking anyone to be told about it.
